Marcus Rashford to play for Man United in 2026/2027

Marcus Rashford will reportedly be reintegrated into the Manchester United squad following his return from the World Cup, according to The Guardian.

The forward jetted off to the United States facing an uncertain future at club level, but told reporters that nothing would be decided until his international duties had concluded.

“As a person, I live in the moment. I was very clear with everyone involved before the World Cup. I wanted it done before, and if not, then I won’t deal with it until after, because I want to fully be present in this moment,” said Rashford while in England’s camp.

“At the same time, we’re fighting for something. I don’t have energy to be putting into other things.”

Currently, the 28-year-old is preparing for the Three Lions’ quarter-final clash with Norway on Saturday night (10pm BST), where he’ll be hoping he’s done enough in training to warrant a start over his counterpart Anthony Gordon.

Then, when England’s campaign is done – whether that be this weekend or in the coming weeks – Rashford will be granted three weeks’ holiday before reporting back to Carrington to start his pre-season, as per Jamie Jackson.

The main reason he left his boyhood club in the first place was due to a fallout with then-manager Ruben Amorim, who was succeeded by Michael Carrick at the beginning of the year.

Carrick was originally appointed on an interim basis, but impressed enough in the fixtures he oversaw that he was awarded a long-term deal, having secured United’s return to the Champions League and recorded emphatic wins over Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City.

Rashford holds a positive relationship with Carrick, so that’s perhaps why INEOS have softened their stance over his return.

That being said, their first-choice solution was to sell the attacker due to his exorbitant £325,000-a-week wages, but no suitors have come in for him as of yet.

Barcelona opted against activating his £26 million buy clause before it expired, and while his contract, which runs until 2028, does contain a £40m release clause for any side except Liverpool and City, no club has indicated any desire to trigger it.
