One Spanish journalist has poured cold water on Manchester United’s links with Aurelien Tchouameni.
It comes amid reports that the Red Devils were preparing a formal offer to both the player and Real Madrid.
Aurelien Tchouameni to stay at Real Madrid this summer
However, reporter Ramon Alvarez de Mon is of the belief that the midfielder will still be at the Santiago Bernabeu by the transfer deadline.
He revealed this morning on Twitter/X: “I can confirm that Manchester United likes Tchouameni, but my information is that he’ll stay at Real Madrid next season.”

Alas, it’s really the last update that United supporters needed to hear after the club have already missed out on Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes.
Things could well change in the coming weeks, though, especially when Tchouameni concludes his international duties and returns from the World Cup.
Why are United being linked with Tchouameni?
The 26-year-old had been tipped for a Los Blancos exit following the appointment of Jose Mourinho, who is overseeing a squad overhaul in the Spanish capital.
He was called upon to try and put matters right in Madrid, where the European heavyweights have been navigating uncharted territory by enduring back-to-back trophyless campaigns.
When 2026/2027 gets underway, Tchouameni will officially be in the penultimate season of his contract, hence speculation suggesting Madrid may look to cash in while his value is still so high.

There is also the fact that the Frenchman was part of a notorious bust-up with his counterpart Federico Valverde earlier this year, which concluded with the latter having to go to hospital and miss El Clásico.

The pair spoke out to try and diffuse the situation and prevent such widespread media coverage in the aftermath of the incident, but it was subsequently revealed they had both been dealt disciplinary action by the club.
