Manchester United are preparing to make a major announcement regarding Ederson, who is currently undergoing a decisive medical test.
Last month, press reports revealed that the Premier League giants struck an agreement with Atalanta to buy Ederson for £35 million plus £4 million in bonuses.
But what was supposed to be a straightforward operation has proved to be much more complicated than initially envisioned.
Decisive hours for Ederson who’s undergoing new Man Utd medical
At first, the delay in the official announcement was attributed to the player’s participation in the World Cup after receiving a late call-up from Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti following Wesley’s injury, even though other stars completed transfers during the course of the tournament.
But with the Selecao eliminated a week ago, fans and observers started wondering whether Ederson’s arrival truly was a matter of time, as initially depicted.
In recent days, Fabrizio Romano lifted the lid by revealing that Man Utd weren’t completely satisfied with the midfielder’s original medical, which was conducted during his stay in the Brazilian camp.
While it remains unclear whether the issue arose from the results of the tests or the methods adopted, the Red Devils requested a more thorough second medical, with some sources claiming that the procedure could be spread over two days.
On Friday morning, Italian journalist Matteo Moretto provided an update on the situation, revealing that the medical should be concluded in the coming hours, so Man Utd should make an announcement later in the day.
“Éderson will complete all his Manchester United medical tests in the coming hours,” posted the transfer market insider on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
“The definitive communication from United on his transfer is on the way.”

Will Man United announce Ederson as a new signing?
While Moretto’s words suggest that the transfer saga will finally reach its conclusion on Friday, his phrasing leaves much for interpretation.
When a club makes a public communication regarding a transfer, it normally means a deal has been concluded. Nevertheless, some observers believe that United are ready to pull the trigger if the medical results confirm whatever concerns stemming from the first medical.
Interestingly, a section of the MUFC fanbase has been urging the club to abandon Ederson’s pursuit and instead turn to Manu Kone, who has been highly impressive in the World Cup, especially following his commanding display in the middle of the park in France’s 2-0 quarterfinal victory over Morocco on Thursday.
