New AC Milan boss Ruben Amorim is reportedly interested in working with Manchester United winger Amad Diallo once again.
The Portuguese manager spent five months on the shelf after getting sacked in January. INEOS relieved him of his duties following a tumultuous 14-month tenure blighted by poor results, controversial selections, rigid tactics, and stubborn stances.
United swiftly moved on from the 41-year-old, as they’ve been finding much more success under his successor, Michael Carrick, who led them towards a comfortable third-place finish.
Likewise, Amorim is hoping to open a more successful chapter in his young managerial career after being appointed AC Milan manager.
Amorim wants Amad Diallo to join him at Man Utd
Since taking the reins at Milanello, the Portuguese tactician has been constantly linked with MUFC players, especially the ones who thrived under his watch.
Mason Mount was perhaps the first name to surface, but Carrick is determined to keep his compatriot at Carrington, despite his secondary role.
In recent days, Noussair Mazraoui was identified as a potential Milan target, as the Moroccan international was able to perform several roles in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system.
And now, sources in the British media, including Caught Offside, reveal that the Rossoneri have set their sight on Amad.
The Ivorian international is tied to United with a contract valid until June 2030, but Milan could try to test their resolve, as they try to reunite Amorim with his old pupil.
Should Man Utd consider selling Amad?
Since joining the Red Devils in 2021, Amad has endured several highs and lows, but one could argue it was all part of the learning process, as the Atalanta youth product was only a teenager when he arrived.
Curiously, the Ivorian arguably had his best run at Old Trafford following Amorim’s appointment in November 2024. His ‘unstoppable’ performance in the derby against Man City (in December 2024) will long live in the memory of the club’s supporters.

Unfortunately for the 24-year-old, he hasn’t enjoyed the same level of success under Carrick, as the tactical switch to the 4-2-3-1 formation left him vying with Bryan Mbeumo for one slot on the right flank, having previously coexisted in Amorim’s tactical jigsaw.
But with Man Utd returning to the Champions League and planning to go far in domestic competitions, there will certainly be enough space for Amad to play, even if he doesn’t overtake Mbeumo in the pecking order. Even the young Shea Lacey could be given some first-team opportunities on the right flank throughout the campaign.
Furthermore, Carrick is requesting a deep squad with multiple options for every role, so keeping Amad would align with this strategy, as his contributions can prove vital, whether as a starter or when coming off the bench.
