Manchester United centre-back Tyler Fredricson was left behind at Carrington in a decision that harolds the end of his time at the club.
The Stockport native is an MUFC academy product who made his senior debut under Ruben Amorim in the 2024/25 campaign.
Last season, the 21-year-old started in the embarassing Carabao Cup defeat in Grimsby, before being hauled off at half-time. His only other appearance with the first team was a two-minute cameo in the Premier League victory over Newcastle in December.
Tyler Fredricson set to leave Man Utd
Despite Man Utd’s return to the Champions League, Fredricson appears to be on his way out of the club.
Michael Carrick selected 25-year-old players for the Helsinki trip, which will witness United’s first pre-season friendly of the summer, as they’ll take on Wrexham on Finnish soil.
The United head coach had to include several youngsters to make up for the absences of the World Cup players, but Fredricson still wasn’t included.

According to BBC journalist Simon Stone, the English defender was left behind because he is expected to be sold outright.
The source didn’t mention his potential destination, but noted that he was about to sign for Celtic in January, but the transfer collapsed due to an injury. Therefore, it remains to be seen if the Glasgow-based giants will revive their interest in the departing MUFC man.
Why Fredricson’s departure is inevitable
At the age of 21, it is time for Fredricson to carve his own path rather than waste another season waiting for a chance that is unlikely to arrive.
The Carrington youth product already has five centre-backs ahead of him in the pecking order. These are Harry Maguire, Matthijs de Ligt, Lisandro Martinez, Leny Yoro, and Ayden Heaven, with all of whom are vying for two starting roles.
Even when four of the aforementioned defenders were absent last season, Carrick was happy to move full-back Noussair Mazraoui into a more central role rather than resorting to Fredricson’s services.
The Stockport-born defender might have a bright future ahead of him, but it’s past time for him to leave the nest.
