Ruben Amorim has been dealt a blow, as Manchester United have no desire to deprive themselves of Amad Diallo.
The 24-year-old is an Atalanta youth product who signed for the Premier League giants in January 2021.
Following loan spells at Sunderland and Rangers, he returned to Carrington in 2023 and was able to cement himself as an automatic starter under Amorim.

While Amorim endured a tumultuous 14-month reign, this has arguably been Amad’s best period since joining Man Utd.
Ivorian international had some ‘unstoppable’ outings under the Portuguese boss, including a match-winning performance against Man City in the derby.
However, Diallo found himself vying for a starting role with Bryan Mbeumo following Michael Carrick’s arrival in January. The two men had previously co-existed in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation, but there’s one spot for a right winger in the current 4-2-3-1 system.

Therefore, recent reports from Italy claimed that Amorim is hoping to reunite with Amad at Milan. The 41-year-old has been recently appointed as the new Rossoneri head coach, and he has already been linked with several of his former MUFC favourites, especially Mason Mount and Noussair Mazraoui.
But according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Man Utd had long informed the Ivorian’s agents that they intended to keep him beyond the summer and would not entertain any offers.
“Amad Diallo’s camp informed in June on Man United stance: no intention to sell this summer,” posted the transfer market guru on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.
“Despite links with several clubs, MUFC mantain they want to keep and trust Amad.”

Why keeping Amad is a must for Man Utd
Despite his reduced role in the second half of the season, Amad should still be considered a valuable player at United.
It should be remembered that Man Utd are currently building a squad capable of challenging on all fronts following their return to the Champions League. Therefore, quality depth will be required all over the field, as there will be enough opportunities for 22-25 players to feature throughout the season.
Whether Amad will be a first choice or not remains to be seen, but the Reds will be counting on his impact in the final third.
The duel between Diallo and Mbeumo will provide Carrick with the sort of headache that every manager relishes. He will be hoping for a similar dilemma on the left wing, where the situation remains uncertain, and mostly hinges on Marcus Rashford’s fate.
