Fabrizio Romano has revealed this afternoon that a ‘deal [is] on’ for Joshua Zirkzee to join Fiorentina.
Negotiations are now officially underway between Manchester United and the forward’s camp.

Romano adds that La Viola are in ‘advanced talks’ to welcome Zirkzee to their ranks on loan.
A buy clause will be included in the terms, though the exact fee has yet to be disclosed, and the Serie A outfit will pay a £4.2 million loan fee to United.

Fiorentina have ramped up their pursuit of an attacker today as they prepare to sanction Moise Kean’s move to Como, meaning a replacement is essential in the coming days.
Zirkzee was an unused substitute in United’s season-opener, a defeat away to Hull City, last Saturday, which added to the speculation regarding his future and whether he’d be on the move before the deadline.
He has been used sparingly by Michael Carrick this year, so you couldn’t blame him for wanting to explore a new venture elsewhere – especially given the reintegration of Marcus Rashford will make game time even harder to come by.

Zirkzee finally on verge of securing summer move
Alas, it looks as though Zirkzee is favouring a return to Italy, despite garnering interest from Premier League sides.
The Dutchman spent two years plying his trade in Serie A with Bologna prior to his £36.5m Old Trafford switch in 2024.
Aston Villa had made an approach to gauge the feasibility of a deal for Zirkzee last week, but they have since agreed a £65m package for Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson, so would’ve been unlikely to act on their interest in the Red any further.

Signing for Fiorentina would see the 25-year-old link up with United legend David de Gea, who’d pulled the curtains on his 12-year tenure in M16 by the time Zirkzee arrived at the club.
