Manchester United are willing to grant Harry Amass leave on deadline day, but only if they can find a replacement.
The Premier League giants only have 13 hours left to recruit a new left-back. Therefore, addressing this issue is considered their deadline-day priority, especially after sorting out their midfield revamp.
Luke Shaw has been Michael Carrick’s ultimate choice for the role, as Patrick Dorgu is perceived as an attacking winger, while Amass has been on the market since the start of the summer.
Man Utd put Harry Amass to Burnley on ice
Amass is a 19-year-old MUFC academy product who was praised for his ‘fearless and aggressive’ attitude while making his breakthrough.
The teenager made his first-team debut under Ruben Amorim during the 2024/25 season, but was loaned to Sheffield Wednesday last summer.
The left-back was voted the Owls’ Player of the Month on back-to-back occasions, but United decided to recall him in January, as the struggling Wednesday were beyond hope. Amass thus joined Norwich City for the second half of the season, but his stint was swiftly wrecked by a serious injury.

Despite featuring for Man Utd this summer, Amass was placed on the transfer list, with Man Utd eyeing a new left-back.
But according to The Athletic journalist Laurie Whitwell, United could decide to block the Englishman’s departure until they secure the services of another full-back.
In other words, if Jason Wilcox and Co. fail to deliver a new signing on deadline day, keeping Amass could be the fallback option.
Man Utd & Amass have several deadline-day options
At this early stage of the day, it remains difficult to predict whether or not MUFC will recruit a new left-back, and where Amass will end up.
The 19-year-old was heavily linked with Burnley, but Sky Sports are now reporting that the Clarets have pulled out of the negotiations. Nevertheless, the player still has suitors in the shape of West Ham and Birmingham City, while a return to Norwich remains possible.
On the other hand, Man Utd continue to examine their options on the market. After missing out on their top targets Lewis Hall and Myles Lewis-Skelly, they are reportedly eyeing short-term solutions that would allow them to revive their interest in the Newcastle star next summer.
Jorge Salinas, David Raum, and Alejandro Balde have all been mentioned as potential candidates for the role, but it would be difficult to sign any of them on loan.
Therefore, keep an eye on last-minute solutions, as fresh names could emerge throughout the day.
