Marcus Rashford has his sights set on making his third successive start in Thursday’s Champions League opener.

The forward was withdrawn in the 70th minute during yesterday’s draw to Everton, with Michael Carrick confirming he had sustained a slight injury problem.

“I’m not going into detail, but he felt a little bit of something so we had to change him,” said Carrick post-match.

However, Manchester United’s No.9 has since taken to Instagram to react to the afternoon’s affairs on Merseyside, saying: “So unlucky not to come away with all the points today! The results will come. Big week coming up, starting with Thursday’s game.”

Alas, supporters are crossing their fingers and hoping Rashford will recover in time to feature, having been one of the side’s standout performers this weekend.

Although he is still awaiting his first goal contribution of 2026/2027, the 28-year-old established himself as a real nuisance for the Toffees backline early on in the encounter.

Former Red Owen Hargreaves claimed the Carrington graduate was looking ‘like the Marcus of old’, while journalist Samuel Luckhurst singled Rashford out as United’s ‘best forward’ – despite Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo providing the goals.

As per Fotmob, he also completed three successful dribbles, made two line-breaking passes and created one chance, so you can bet David Moyes and his men would’ve been relieved to see the attacker withdrawn with 20 minutes left to play.
