Leeds United want to sign Daniel James

Leeds United want to sign Daniel James this summer, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

It isn’t specifically stated whether their interest lies with a loan deal or a permanent move, as this would seemingly be up to Manchester United.

Marcelo Bielsa has been active in the transfer window so far, having already brought in five senior signings. This tally is expected to increase too, with a deal for Diego Llorente looking imminent.

The newly promoted side clearly feel the need to strengthen to compete in the top-flight, and James has emerged as a profile to do exactly that. The Welshman has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford, with Mason Greenwood asserting his spot down the right-flank, with a new RW being targeted this summer too.

James also has a bit of history with Leeds, having nearly joined them back in the 2019 January transfer window. ‘Nearly’ is perhaps an understatement, as the player was even pictured holding up a jersey outside the club’s stadium.

On paper, a loan move could suit all parties involved. The 22-year-old would receive consistent first-team minutes in the PL, whilst Leeds would be acquiring a longly desired target, without splashing the cash.

Should a new right-winger eventually come through the doors at United, a final decision will then potentially be made on James’ future.
