Ruben Amorim has allowed Alejandro Garnacho to return to Manchester United training – despite initially blocking his involvement.
Indeed, the Argentine starlet has been given the green light to join his first-team teammates at Carrington as they begin their preparations for 2025/2026 – as well as their forthcoming pre-season fixtures/tour.
The decision is certain to spark speculation over Garnacho’s future, given he is one of five players – along with Antony, Marcus Rashford, Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho – to have informed the club of their desire to leave this summer.

In his case, it came after he got on the wrong side of Amorim in the aftermath of United’s Europa League final defeat in May.
Garnacho was dropped for the fixture against Tottenham Hotspur in Bilbao and ended up featuring for only 17 minutes off the bench as the Reds slumped to a 1-0 defeat.
Post-match, he rued the boss’ decision to omit him from the starting XI, labelled United’s season as ‘sh*t’ and hinted at a potential move elsewhere when saying: “I’ll try to enjoy my summer, and then we’ll see.”
It was revealed days later that, in training, the infuriated Amorim had told Garnacho to ‘pray’ he could find another club, before leaving him out of the matchday squad entirely for the final Premier League match of the campaign vs Aston Villa.
Who’s interested in Garnacho?
The 21-year-old has since been linked with a host of suitors, including Atletico Madrid, Chelsea and Napoli, though none have gone as far as submitting a formal offer, and with just over four weeks to go until the new season gets underway, INEOS will likely be sweating on his situation.
Both Chelsea and Napoli first established their interest in Garnacho back in January, with the latter having a £40 million bid rebuffed by United, who valued their academy graduate in the region of £60 million.
Given he’s a homegrown talent, any fee the board recuperate from his sale will be classed as pure profit, therefore aiding their PSR situation.
As for the Stamford Bridge outfit, they were seen as a potential suitor earlier in the window due to Garnacho’s preference to remain in the Premier League. Unfortunately for United, Chelsea prioritised the acquisition of England U21 ace Jamie Gittens.
There is a possibility they could revive their pursuit in the event they facilitate outgoings in the coming weeks – one being Noni Madueke, who is closing in on a £50m+ move to London rivals Arsenal.
