“He can’t finish” – Man Utd told to abort their plans for Chelsea star

Manchester United will be looking to sign a new centre-forward in the coming weeks, but they have been told that Nicolas Jackson is not the man they need.

The Red Devils have already signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves in June, and they have finally found an accord with Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo. These two players are expected to feature as the main attacking midfielders in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system.

Therefore, the next step is to find a new striker capable of spearheading the new attacking trident, someone who can be an upgrade on the club’s current choices, particularly Rasmus Hojlund. However, the identity of the new No.9 remains anyone’s guess at this stage.

Nevertheless, finding the right centre-forward is of paramount importance for the club, as a top-notch striker can raise the level of the whole team by making the most out of the opportunities created by the likes of Cunha, Mbeumo, Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo. On the contrary, a misfiring attacker would thwart the team’s chances of bouncing back from a horrendous 2024/25 campaign.

In fact, the identity of the new striker will have a major impact on the betting odds ahead of the new season, because when it comes to breaking down Man Utd’s chances this season from both fan and bettor perspectives, the quality of the squad at Amorim’s disposal will either encourage punters to wager on a prosperous campaign for the Red Devils, or place their money elsewhere, especially with the likes of Liverpool and Man City making a major splash on the market, futher strenghtening their already impressive squads.

Man Utd linked with a host of strikers

In recent weeks, MUFC have been linked with a plethora of centre-forwards, but Jackson has suddenly emerged as a serious candidate. The Senegalese striker has been playing his football at Chelsea over the past two years, but could be set to lose his starting berth following the arrival of Liam Delap.

Nevertheless, Arsenal legend Ray Parlour believes the 24-year-old won’t necessarily be the right choice for Man Utd.

“The problem you have is the lack of number nines and the price goes up,” he said during his appearance on talkSPORT via Metro.

“But with some of the strikers Man United have had over the years, I don’t think he would get anywhere near the top category.”

Why Man United shouldn’t sign Nicolas Jackson

For his part, Alan Brazil was even more vicious in his scathing criticism of Jackson, highlighting his shortcomings in front of goal.

“He can’t finish. Well he can finish but he needs a lot of chances to score. And I would say he’d get more chances but Chelsea are a better side than Man United so I don’t see it working. You never know and I wish him well but I don’t see it working.”

The Senegal international scored 13 goals in his 37 appearances in all competitions last season.
