Romelu Lukaku has spoken out about Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s return to Manchester United, and has claimed that he is happy about the Swede coming back to play at Old Trafford for the 2017/18 season.
Since United confirmed that Ibrahimovic would return, many speculated that Lukaku’s first-team spot would come under fire, as the 35-year-old will obviously want to play games. Despite this, Lukaku is happy to see Zlatan return, and insists that his personality is needed in the dressing room.
Following Belgium’s 9-0 win over Gibraltar, in which Lukaku bagged a hat-trick, the forward told reporters: “I already knew for a while that Zlatan would sign but I didn’t tell anyone.
“I’m happy. We need his personality.
“I think Zlatan will bring us a lot. I think he has one mission, and that is to win the Premier League, and we’re going to help him reach his goal.”
Lukaku inherited Ibrahimovic’s number 9 shirt at United after his £75million move from Everton was completed, meaning the Swede will wear the number 10 shirt for the upcoming season, after Wayne Rooney vacated the number following his summer switch to Goodison Park.
