Alf-Inge Håland aims dig at United after rejecting January transfer

Alf-Inge will mostly be remembered for how his career ended rather than what he achieved. A crunching act of vengeance from Roy Keane made sure of it.

His son, Erling, looked like he might join United in January. He had already worked with Solskjær and United’s interest was well reported.

It was obvious that there was interest but a move never materialized. He instead joined Borussia Dortmund and although he is not expected to stay for long, United missed out on a great deal.

His father, Alf-Inge, suggests that United’s interest began and ended with Solskjær.

“You never know how it would go in other clubs. It may well have been good, too,” he said in an interview on Norwegian TV.

“We’ll never get an answer to that. But we are very happy with the clubs he has been in.

“You have to go to a club where the whole club wants you, not just the coach.”
