Andy Cole claims that Manchester United will have alternatives to Jadon Sancho

Negotiations between Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund for Jadon Sancho continue.

The two clubs have been in talks for a number of months now and despite deadline day quickly looming, the stumbling block remains to be the agreement of a transfer fee.

Dortmund are remaining stubborn over their €120m asking price, a fee that the Red Devils are reportedly identifying as ‘unrealistic’.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to bring the Englishman to Old Trafford, but the club will pursue other targets, should a deal fail to materialise. The manager is keen to strengthen his options down the flanks, due to a lack of quality in depth in this department.

Former United player Andy Cole has had his say on the current transfer scenario at the club, telling The Mirror: “Jadon Sancho, if that deal comes off, it would be a coup, but if that deal doesn’t come off then I’ve got no doubts they’ll have their eye on whoever else they feel could make their team stronger.”

Other figures like Ivan Perisic and Douglas Costa have been rumoured to be on the Red Devils’ shortlist, but fans are only demanding one name. As Cole states, Sancho would no doubt be a ‘coup’ for United – he is one of the most dangerous and dynamic attacking talents in Europe, without his age even being taken into consideration.

The club legend does point out though that should they fail to get their number one target through the doors, contingency plans will be in place. With just over two weeks of the window left though, not many fans will share this optimism.
