Manchester United want to sign Benfica youth player Umaro Embalo, report ESPN FC.
According to Rob Dawson, newly minted Man Utd chief scout Javier Ribalta and the club’s head of development John Murtagh watched Embalo, 16, in action against United under-19s in a UEFA Youth League match on Wednesday.
The Benfica youth product came on as a second half substitute in the tie which ended as a 2-2 draw.
It is believed that United have been tracking Embalo’s development for more than a year.
The Portuguese under-17s player is capable of playing on the right wing and also upfront as a striker.
Known for his finishing ability, pace, and composure, Embalo notched 31 goals and 8 assists in 28 appearances for club and country at the youth level last season.
The young Guinea-Bissau attacker is regarded as one of the best talents in his age bracket and United face competition from European rivals Real Madrid for his signature.
