Top-five oldest ever Manchester United goalscorers

Manchester United have had their fair share of players that have called time on their playing careers whilst at Old Trafford. With data presented to us from BonusCodeBets via Transfermarkt, we’ve listed you the top-five oldest goalscorers for Manchester United in the club’s history.

1) Ryan Giggs – 39 years, 2 months, and 25 days old 

Ryan Giggs is Manchester United’s oldest ever goalscorer for when he found the back of the net against QPR in February 2013, in a game that the Red Devils ran out 2-0 winners in. Giggs made 961 appearances in total for Manchester United, and is certainly considered a legend amongst plenty of the Old Trafford faithful.

The Welshman was a regular under the management of Sir Alex Ferguson, and he won 13 Premier League titles, as well as the Champions League on two occasions.

2) Paul Scholes – 37 years, 9 months, and 30 days old

Scholes is another player that came through Manchester United’s academy, and it’s safe to say that he certainly made a positive impact in his time with the club. The central midfielder made over 700 appearances for the club, and was a regular in the middle of the park with Sir Alex Ferguson in charge.

The former England international scored his final goal for the club in a 4-0 win over Wigan Athletic in September 2012, and he later retired at the end of the 2012/13 season, which brought to an end a hugely successful career with Manchester United.

3) Cristiano Ronaldo – 37 years, 8 months, and 22 days old

Where do we start with this man? Ronaldo is one of the greatest players to grace the beautiful game, and he made his name for Manchester United when he first signed for the club back in 2003 from Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon. He’s made 346 appearances in total for the Red Devils, which comes from two different spells.

He returned to Old Trafford in 2021 after time with Real Madrid and Juventus, and he got on the scoresheet against FC Sheriff in the Europa League. That took the Portuguese captain to 145 goals for Manchester United, and he’ll be a player that is fondly remembered for his contributions for the club. Ronaldo is currently playing his football in Saudi Arabia for Al Nassr, and he’s continued his impressive goalscoring record over there.

4) Bryan Robson – 37 years, 3 months, and 2 days old

Robson scored his final Manchester United goal in a comfortable 4-1 win over Oldham Athletic back in April 1994. The midfielder started his career with West Brom, before making the move to Old Trafford in 1981, which came after an impressive seven-year spell with the Baggies. Robson went on to have a hugely impressive spell with Manchester United which saw him make 409 appearances in total for the club.

His move to Old Trafford saw him earn a regular spot in the England senior squad for future tournaments. Robson won nine trophies in his time with Manchester United, before moving to Middlesbrough in 1994, where he spent three years before calling time on his playing career. He had spells in management after that, which included taking charge of the likes of Middlesbrough, Bradford City, West Brom, Sheffield United, and the Thailand national team, although his managerial days look way off nowadays, as his last job was back in 2011.

5) Laurent Blanc – 36 years, 11 months, and 4 days old

Laurent Blanc is the final player to make up the top-five oldest players to ever score for Manchester United, as he scored against Olympiacos in the Champions League in October 2002. The French centre-back played in France for the early stages of his senior career, which saw him turn out for the likes of Montpellier, Nimes, Saint Etienne, and Auxerre.

Blanc is another player that finished his playing career with Manchester United, as he called time on his playing days at the end of the 2002/03 season, making 75 appearances for the Premier League club in total. The 58-year-old has gone on to enter the world of football management, as has taken charge of the likes of Bordeaux, PSG, Al Rayaan, and most recently, Lyon, which is a job he had up until September 2023.
