Solskjær addresses Anthony Martial and Bruno Fernandes’ blossoming partnership

The arrival of Bruno Fernandes has uplifted everybody at Manchester United.

Since coming through the doors in January, the Portuguese international has contributed to seven goals in his opening nine games for the club, winning on seven occasions.

Operating as the advanced playmaker, he has injected some much needed creativity inside the final third. One player who has most notably benefited from Bruno’s arrival in this regard, has been Anthony Martial.

The Frenchman has scored three goals in Fernandes’ opening five Premier League games, with the latter teeing him up nicely with a chipped ball over the top, to open the scoring against Manchester City back in March.

It’s a partnership that has quickly clicked, and one that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hoping the duo can rekindle when football resumes next week. Speaking about the two attackers to Premier League Productions (via Evening Standard), the Norwegian has said: ‘Tony and Bruno have hit it off together, so it’s a partnership that we hope can flourish.”

The influence of Fernandes has been well documented, with everybody involved with the club praising his performances on the field, but also his attitude around camp. Solskjaer admitted that he has been taken back by his ability to settle in so quickly: “We knew he was a quality player and knew that when he came in he would have an impact straight away, but you never know if he’s going to settle early in a new country but he’s taken to it like a duck to water.”

United will continue to push for Champions League qualification when domestic football returns, and Bruno and Martial will have a large part to say in the matter. With Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford coming back into the mix, the Red Devils will be setting up with one of the most dangerous attacking frontlines in Europe.
