Manchester United likely to make two more signings

It’s been a frustrating window so far for Manchester United, but business seems to be finally picking up. There was a flurry of late night news on Monday evening, with exits for Chris Smalling, Andreas Pereira and Diogo Dalot all generating momentum.

Such sales will need to be met with new faces, with the club tracking a new left-back and a right-sided player.

The Red Devils’ recruitment was a focal point of The Ornstein and Chapman podcast via The Athletic, where it was revealed that signings look to be on the horizon.

David Ornstein said the following about United: “It would be a surprise to me if they didn’t finish the window with a new left-back and a right-sided player.”

The two players being identified for these positions are Alex Telles and Jadon Sancho. Negotiations for the latter have been ongoing for months, with Borussia Dortmund remaining stubborn over their €120m valuation of the player.

A deal for Telles looks to be more straightforward though, with the Brazilian having just one year left on his contract. The BBC reported on Tuesday morning that Porto have set an asking price of £17m – a fair price tag in today’s market.

Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic addressed the matter in the referenced podcast, saying: “Talks are progressing (for Alex Telles). I could see that one happening.”

The transfer window closes on October 5, and United have work to do. To the public eye, their two desired targets look set in stone, and the two potential names would certainly help the club kick-on and close the gap at the top this season.
