Ole Gunnar Solskjaer full of praise for former player Ander Herrera

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been full of praise for former Manchester United player Ander Herrera.

The Spaniard is set to line up against his old club and teammates tonight, but there is certainly no animosity between the Red Devils and the midfielder.

Leading up to the game, Herrera has been very complimentary of both the club and manager, stating that progressive steps are being taken under Solskjaer’s watch.

The Norwegian was asked about the former fan favourite by United’s official site, to which he replied: “Hopefully he doesn’t start tomorrow. He’s a top human being, professional, great among the group and lads. I’ve kept in touch with him myself. He’s just a player and person you want the best for. He plays football for the right reasons. I wish him all the best, but after tomorrow.”

Herrera left Old Trafford back in 2019, after alleged contract disputes. Solskjaer has seemingly downplayed such claims though, through his complimentary tone.

Neither figure holds a distasteful tone towards one another, and the player will no doubt take time after the game to catch up with his former colleagues. As the manager states though, during the ninety-minutes, there will be no love lost.
